The Township of Bedminster , chartered in 1749, is a small but well known community in Somerset County NJ . It has a rich history and is a large part of what is known as “Hunt Country”, with horse farms, equestrian facilities & stables being quite common.
There is a wide array of property in Bedminster, from one bedroom condominiums to multi-acre estates. And, of course, one of the lower tax rates in New Jersey, thanks in part to the businesses that make Bedminster their home (such as AT&T).
In a nod to the areas equestrian history, the U.S. Equestrian Team is headquartered nearby, on the border of Bedminster & Gladstone. There are also many top quality golf facilities close by, notably Donald Trumps world class members only facility, Trump National Golf Club . Also of interest is Natirar, the 491 acre estate once owned by the King of Morocco and recently purchased by the Somerset County Park Commission. Part of the property has been opened to the public via access to walking paths through the bucolic woods & along the bubbling streams. In addition to preserving 400 or so acres as open space, the commission intends to lease 88 acres to Sir Richard Branson, to be used as a retreat facility, with a full service spa and restaurant open to the public.
With easy access to Routes 287, 78 202 & 206, travel in any direction is easy. Commuting is convenient as well, with two NJ Transit train stations nearby, one in Peapack and another in Far Hills.
